The Artist

Sophie Kyriakopoulou is a London-based visual artist working across painting, drawing and tattooing. Moving between figuration and abstraction, her practice explores connection: what happens when bodies, images, lived experiences and different systems of meaning enter into relationship.

Drawing on myth, folklore, esoteric traditions, natural forms and symbolic structures, she brings disparate elements into conversation through colour, gesture and composition. Play, sensuality and strangeness make room for meanings that remain open rather than fixed to a single interpretation.

Movement, music, meditation and material experimentation inform her process, alongside a curiosity that extends beyond the studio into new experiences and unexpected encounters.

Painting is a site of discovery: bodily decisions, chance and the behaviour of materials can redirect an initial idea.

Tattooing brings drawing, personal meaning and ritual into direct relationship with skin and movement. Alongside her studio work, Sophie develops workshops that approach image-making as a shared experience, connecting experimentation and human interaction.

She works from her London studio, where these activities develop as distinct but connected strands of the practice.
