Sophie Kyriakopoulou is a London-based visual artist working across painting, drawing and participatory practice. Through oil, watercolour and ink, she creates luminous abstract and semi-abstract works that explore the relationship between body, memory, symbolism and transformation.

Rooted in gesture and accumulation, her practice draws from mythological imagery, natural systems, movement and personal ritual. Floral forms, serpentine lines, shifting geometries and atmospheric colour fields emerge as recurring motifs, acting less as fixed symbols and more as emotional or energetic traces. Her works often exist between figuration and abstraction, inviting viewers into spaces that feel simultaneously intimate and archetypal.

Sophie's process is deeply informed by rhythm, repetition and embodied experience. Influences from dance, meditation and material experimentation shape a visual language that prioritises sensation, presence and transformation over narrative certainty. Colour operates structurally and emotionally within the work, building tension, atmosphere and resonance through layered transparencies and contrasting densities.

Alongside her studio practice, Sophie develops workshops and participatory projects that investigate image-making as a shared experiential process. These projects extend her interest in the connection between creativity, symbolism and human interaction, blurring the boundaries between artwork, performance and lived experience.

Currently Sophie works in her London studio where she continues to expand a painterly language that merges contemporary abstraction with mythology, material sensitivity and psychological space.
